I rarely preach a topical sermon because the conviction of our elders and congregation is that the best form of preaching is the expositional lectio continua systematic preaching through the books of the Bible.
However, this last Sunday our church set apart a man to the office of Elder by the imposition of hands and prayer. For this occasion, I preached a topical sermon on the character and purpose of the man who serves in this office and the church’s response to him. I pray you find this message beneficial and edifying.
